About these terms

These terms cover Chop it: the iOS app, the web app at chopit.app, this website at chop-it.com and the Chop it app inside ChatGPT (together, the “Service”). The Service is run by Chop It AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17145595, whose registered office is at 114 Douglas Road, Surbiton, KT6 7SB, United Kingdom (“Chop it”, “we”, “us”).

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. If you use the iOS app, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies (see Apple below).

Who can use Chop it

You must be at least 13 years old to use Chop it. If you are under 18, please use it with the permission of a parent or guardian. Chop it is made for people planning meals for themselves and their household, not for business or resale.

Your account

• You can use some of Chop it without an account. Saving recipes, plans and preferences, Chef IQ and Pro need one.
• Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and should tell us at once at hello@chop-it.com if you think someone else has used it.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings, or see how to delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription billed by Apple; cancel that in your Apple account as well.

What Chop it is, and what it is not

Chop it is a planning tool. It helps you choose recipes, build a week of meals, keep track of your pantry and write a shopping list. It does not sell or deliver food, it is not a supermarket and it does not give medical, dietary or nutritional advice.

AI features

Chop it uses AI, provided by OpenAI, to write and rewrite recipes, turn recipes you import into our format, read photos of recipes and of your food, check your pantry, get your shopping list ready, tidy and fix recipes in your library, answer you in chat and draw recipe pictures. Recipes written by AI carry the Chef IQ mark. Plan my week chooses from recipes already in Chop it. Our Privacy Policy explains what is sent to OpenAI.

• AI can be wrong. A recipe might have a mistake in an amount, a time or a step, and a shopping list might miss or double an item. Read every recipe before you cook it and every list before you buy.
• Pantry suggestions tell you what to look at first. They never confirm that food is safe to eat. Use your own judgement and the dates and storage advice on the packaging.
• Recipe pictures are generated illustrations, not photographs of the dish as you will make it.
• Nutrition figures and the Weekly Diversity Score are estimates to help you plan more varied meals. They are not measured values and they are not health advice.

Foods to avoid and cooking safely

In Settings you can pick a diet, choose Foods to avoid and add Dislikes, and Chop it will leave those foods out of what it plans and suggests. Chop it leaves out the foods you choose, but it is not built for managing allergies. Always check labels and ingredients.

• Recipes, plans, shopping lists and AI output are not suitable for managing food allergies, intolerances or medical diets. They can include a food you want to avoid, call it something else, or miss one that is hidden inside another product.
• Always check the ingredients and the label of every product you buy and cook, and follow any advice from your doctor or dietitian.
• Cook food safely: follow storage and use-by dates, cook to safe temperatures and take care with raw ingredients. You are responsible for the meals you prepare.

Chef IQ jobs and credits

Chef IQ does jobs for you, such as planning a week, checking your pantry, making a recipe, fixing recipes in your library or getting a shopping list ready. Most of these jobs use credits.

• A job that completes with a useful result uses one credit. Chop it shows the cost and your balance before you start, and a job that fails, finds nothing to change or returns nothing uses no credit. Looking again at a result, changing your choices within it and doing things yourself are free.
• New accounts get 5 credits once, to try Chef IQ. Every account also gets 3 free credits each week, added on Monday. Weekly free credits that you do not use expire when the next week’s arrive; they do not build up.
• Everyone can import 10 recipes a week free (from a web page, a social post or a photo). The allowance resets on Monday and unused imports do not carry over. After that, each import uses one credit, and Chop it asks before it spends one. Typing in a recipe yourself is always free.
• Credits are not sold on their own, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be moved to another account. Credits you bought in the past, when credit packs were sold, do not expire.
• We may change which jobs use credits or how many they use, for example when a job changes. We will always show the cost before a job, we will tell you before a change that affects Pro, and a change will not reduce a balance you already hold.

Chop it Pro

Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, bought in the iOS app through Apple. It is the only thing Chop it sells. Pro includes:

• 50 Pro credits for Chef IQ jobs in each monthly cycle (yearly subscribers get 50 each month).
• A rollover: a quarter of the Pro credits you have not used at the end of a monthly cycle, rounded down, carries into the next cycle. Rolled-over credits last for that next cycle only.
• Chef IQ Shop, which takes your This Week shopping list straight to your chosen supermarket’s own search, line by line. It is only available with Pro and uses no credits. If you want Chef IQ to tidy the list first (Shop Ready), that uses one credit.
• Anything else the Pro screen lists when you subscribe.

• Price and renewal. The price, the length of the subscription and any introductory offer are shown on the Pro screen and by Apple before you pay. Apple takes payment and renews the subscription automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
• Cancelling. Cancel at any time in your Apple account settings (on iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Pro keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your Chop it account does not cancel it.
• When Pro ends. Pro credits and rolled-over credits end with it. Your sign-up credits and credits bought in the past stay in your account. Weekly free credits still expire at the next weekly refresh, as explained above.
• Refunds. Apple handles payments and refunds for purchases made through the App Store. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Your statutory rights are not affected.
• Changes to Pro. If we raise the price, Apple will tell you first and, where its rules require, ask you to agree before the new price applies. If we take something important out of Pro, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel before the change. If you were on a yearly plan before 21 September 2026, your current yearly term keeps the monthly allowance it was sold with until it renews.
• On the web. Pro cannot be bought on the web or in the ChatGPT app. If you have Pro, it works wherever you sign in to the same account.

Complimentary Pro

We sometimes give Pro free, for example to people testing Chop it or as a thank-you. A complimentary pass gives the same features as Pro, including the monthly Pro credits, for the time we tell you. It costs nothing and never turns into a paid subscription. A pass with an end date ends then, along with its Pro credits. A lifetime pass has no scheduled end date. A pass is for your account only. We may end a pass early if it was given by mistake or is being misused, and we will tell you if we do.

Shopping links and supermarkets

Chop it does not sell groceries and does not take payment for them.

• When you choose a supermarket on the shopping review, each line of your list becomes a link to that supermarket’s own search, opened in your browser. Nothing is added to a basket and nothing is bought for you: you search, choose and pay on the supermarket’s website under its terms and at its prices.
• Chop it never asks for, holds or uses your supermarket login, delivery address or payment card, and it does not operate any supermarket website on your behalf.
• Chop it can also hand a shopping list to Whisk (part of Samsung Food) when you choose to shop that way. Whisk runs under its own terms and privacy policy.
• Supermarket names belong to their owners, who do not sponsor or endorse Chop it. We earn nothing from these links.
• We are not responsible for what a supermarket or shopping service shows, charges or delivers, including prices, stock, substitutions and product matches.

Importing recipes

You can import a recipe from a web page, an Instagram or TikTok post or a photo, for your own use.

• Chop it uses the source as inspiration and rewrites the recipe in British English, with UK metric measurements and consistent cooking instructions. Its checks cover structure and completeness; minor gaps may be filled, but a source with too little information is refused. We keep an “Inspired by” credit and a link back, with the creator’s details where available. New imports do not save the original caption or extracted text with the recipe, or use photos from the source. You can upload a photo yourself or choose to generate a new image with AI. Older imported text and images may remain while we review them.
• Your imports are private to your account unless you choose to share a recipe.
• Only import what you are entitled to use for your own cooking. We may remove an imported recipe if the rights holder asks us to.
• If the original post or page is later removed or made private, your recipe stays in Chop it but the link to the source may stop working.

Sharing recipes and weeks

You can create a link to share a recipe or a week of meals. A shared page is public: anyone with the link can open it without an account, whoever you send it to can pass it on, and if the link is posted somewhere public, search engines may list the page. People who open a shared recipe can save it and rate it. Shared pages do not add your account name or email address, but details you put in the recipe, notes or photos may be visible, and Chop it has no public profiles or search of other people’s recipes.

• Share only what you are entitled to share. Do not share recipes, photos or text that belong to someone else without permission, anything illegal, or anything harmful, hateful or misleading about food safety.
• A shared recipe is a copy made when you share it. It stays at its link after you delete your account, without your account details, unless you ask us to take it down.

Reporting a shared page, and complaints

If you see a shared page that you think is illegal, infringes your rights or breaks these terms, email the link and the reason to hello@chop-it.com.

• We look at every report promptly. We take down illegal content as soon as we are aware of it, and we may take down anything else that breaks these terms.
• We tell the person who reported it what we did. If we take down a page you shared, we tell you why where we can.
• If you disagree with a decision, or think we have not handled a report properly, reply to our email or write to the same address and someone who was not involved will look at it again.

Acceptable use

Please use Chop it lawfully and for your own household. Do not:

• copy, scrape, resell or redistribute our recipe catalogue, our recipes or other content, or use them to train an AI model;
• use bots or scripts to access the Service, except through the integrations we provide;
• reverse engineer the Service, disrupt it or try to get into parts of it you are not allowed into;
• set up several accounts, or misuse offers, to get more free credits, imports or Pro than we give;
• share illegal content, or content that infringes someone else’s rights, through a shared page;
• use the Service to break the law or anyone’s rights.

Your content

The recipes, photos, notes and plans you add stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, reformat and process them, and to send them to the companies that run parts of Chop it for us, so we can provide the Service to you: for example to rewrite an imported recipe, build a shopping list or show a page you have chosen to share. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law. We do not use your content to train AI models. Our commitment is not to opt your content into our AI provider’s model training. On 27 September 2026, we found an optional-sharing setting that did not match this commitment. See AI and OpenAI in our Privacy Policy for the finding, the verified disablement on 28 September and our review of earlier sharing.

Our content

The Chop it name and logo, our recipe catalogue, Chef IQ recipes, the Weekly Diversity Score and the Service itself belong to Chop It AI Ltd or the people who license them to us. You may use them for your own cooking and planning as part of normal use of the Service.

Other services

Chop it works with services run by other companies, including Apple, ChatGPT (OpenAI), supermarkets, Whisk, Instagram and TikTok. When you use them you are also using their services under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.

Changes to the Service

We keep improving Chop it, so features change. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop offering the Service. If a change takes away something important you have paid for, we will tell you in advance, and if we close the Service we will give you reasonable notice. The Service needs an internet connection and we cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults.

Our responsibility to you

• If you pay for Pro, UK law says the digital content and services we supply must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and supplied with reasonable care and skill. If they are not, you have rights to a repair, a replacement or some money back. If defective digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, we will repair it or compensate you.
• We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
• Chop it is for household use. We are not responsible to you for any loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.
• Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending your use of Chop it

You can stop using Chop it and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. We will tell you why and, where it is reasonable, give you the chance to put things right first. If we close your account without a good reason, we will make sure you are not left paying for Pro you cannot use.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the Service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to you, for example to what Pro includes or how credits work, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies, unless the law needs it sooner. If you do not agree, you can stop using Chop it and cancel Pro before the change takes effect.

Apple

If you use the iOS app, these terms are between you and Chop It AI Ltd, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content or its support, and has no obligation to maintain it. Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies alongside these terms, and Apple and its subsidiaries may rely on these terms as third-party beneficiaries for the iOS app. Questions, complaints and claims about the app come to us, not Apple.

Complaints and contact

If something has gone wrong, please tell us at hello@chop-it.com and we will try to put it right. For a purchase made through the App Store you can also contact Apple.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
